Alex Hirtzel works as a multi-disciplined artist, and as an educator working with museums and community groups on a very wide range of projects.
Alex’s latest work is on display in St James’s Park, London where she is Artist in Residence. Works produced by several community groups led by Alex are also being shown at the National Gallery and the Mall Galleries.
As an artist, Alex works with scientists and archaeologists: she draws fictions from facts, makes up new stories, picks up references, and orders them into a new narrative.
Alongside producing her own work, she maintains a programme of work with museums such as the Wallace Collection, the National Gallery and the Museum of London, including running a variety of community workshops across Cambridge and London.
In 2015, Alex participated in the Clore Leadership Programme, and co-organised the Art, Language, Location festival in Cambridge.
Her MA in Fine Art at Cardiff followed degrees in Fine Art at Byam Shaw, London, and History of Art and Education at Cambridge University.
