St Charles Primary School:

“What can we say about Alex – she’s fantastic! We first met her on a teacher training session at the Wallace Collection when we did a drawing workshop and we found her to be so engaging that we asked her to come do some workshops with our students. Over the next two years, we invited Alex to do some drawing days with all of the children in the school and they absolutely loved it! She catered to children from Nursery all the way up to Year 6, and the collages she created with their artwork are still hanging in our corridors to this day – brightening up our school and showing off our artistic talent! She also ran a teacher training session with some creative ideas to do in the classroom, which helped to inspire our teachers to use some new and interesting art techniques with our students! Alex is fun and entertaining, and really took the time to speak with me (Art Coordinator) to tailor the sessions and materials specifically for our groups of students–resulting in some beautiful masterpieces! Alex, we can’t thank you enough-you’re brilliant! – C. Fitzpatrick

London Play:

“Alex Hirtzel, came highly recommended to London Play by our project partner, The Museum of London. Our Play Streets: Past and Present project funded by the Heritage Lottery required a very talented artist to lead on the creative elements of the project. Alex, was just the right person, she fitted easily into the team and transformed our project’s participants stories into amazing interactive pieces of art. Alex skills and talents really came into their own when she created a fantastic hands on exhibition of a Giant Play Street, hundreds of children and adults experienced Alex’s work. London Play are very keen to use Alex again” – C. Togut

International conservation charity:

“Eight years ago, my son and I attended  Alex’s deeply memorable  ‘myths and masks night at the museum’  in Cambridge, a event both of us will remember for the rest of our lives.  When my organisation wanted to do a team building day for 200 people that would be inspiring, compelling and fun,  I knew Alex was the person we needed.  It was a complete success – we have beautiful, crazy, wacky and moving masks that tie our relationships and work together. As my son said eight years ago, ‘there were no boring bits’!” – P. Davis

Mental health hospital school:

“As ever Alex was a force of nature, gently bonding with the children as she taught them about the uses and construction methods of armour. We learned about Tipu Sultan and his weapons and the children were fully engaged.  It is a real honour to have Alex visit us. She has such a rapport with children and adults, and can teach us all so much, not just about her subject but about relating to others.”
